MR-5 Sliding Bearings
The MR-5 trademark identifes a range of bearings composed of compounded PTFE (polytetrafuoroethylene) tape on a hard metal shell which can be made of one of the following materials as per customer request:
- MR-5: Low carbon steel (DC04)
- MR-5 AL: Aluminum alloy
- MR-5 ALC: Aluminum-cladded steel
- MR-5 316: AISI 316L
The tape of PTFE contains fllers & additives as per demand (Lead-free, meeting the European Parliament's ELV Directive 2000/53/EC), that give at the material self lubricating properties, isolates noise and is designed to obtain bearings without play. Thickness standard is from 0,500 / 0,750 and 1,000 mm.
Due to their different designs, MR-5 bearings are available with both a conductive sliding layer and a dielectric sliding layer. When ordering, please specify the bearing version: the E index indicates conductivity and D indicates the non-conductive layer.
Shapes and Geometries
Technymon Bearings are designed with meticulous precision to seamlessly integrate into their designated applications. Every aspect, from the exact fit with partnering components to the geometry itself (including flanged designs, spherical shapes, and integrated holes), is meticulously considered to guarantee optimal performance and maximize the functionality of the entire system.
Applications
MR-5 Sliding Bearings
Characteristics
- Thick sliding layer with uniformly distributed solid lubricants
- Good calibration/sizing assembly (zero-clearance)
- High surface conductivity with E version PTFE, not-conductive D version PTFE available with notches/dimples, to prevent paint bridge issues, 1Ω volume conductance can be achieved with proper surface contact
- With right fit, uniform torque can be achieved at the required value
- Thick PTFE layer helps in edge loading
